Landscape Design & Planting in Columbus

Planting designs with structure in winter and fullness in summer — drawn for mature size and built for Central Ohio's soils and seasons, for homes and commercial properties across Columbus.

Overview

Designed for year ten, not day one

Most landscapes look best the week they're installed and worse every year after. Plants get crowded, beds get overgrown, and within a few seasons the original design is lost. Good planting design works the other way — it gets better with time.

We design from the structure outward: evergreens and specimen trees first, then layered shrubs, perennials, and grasses for seasonal movement and color. Every bed is drawn with mature spread in mind, soil is amended based on testing, and plants are selected for how they'll perform in Central Ohio — not just how they look at the nursery.

Local Expertise

Planting that works in Central Ohio

A plant that thrives in a catalog can struggle here. Every design we draw accounts for the specific conditions of Columbus-area properties.

Clay soil

Much of Central Ohio sits on heavy clay that holds water and compacts easily. We amend beds and choose plants that tolerate it.

Four real seasons

Hot, humid summers and cold winters in USDA Zone 6. Our plant palettes are chosen to look good in January, not just June.

Deer pressure

Deer are common in suburbs like New Albany, Powell, and Dublin. We design with deer-resistant plants where it matters most.

Native options

Native trees, shrubs, and perennials that support pollinators and need less water once established.
